Daniel & Julia

Surrounded by family and friends Daniel and Julia said their vows on the shores of the stunning Lakes Lodge Lake Okataina Wedding Venue. It was a lovely warm sunny day with a little cloud cover which is literally picture perfect weather. Lakes Lodge Lake Okataina Weding Venue really was the perfect fit for their wedding.

Daniel and Julia are both from a farming background and are into hunting, fishing, good food and wine. They liked the native bush and lake setting that Lakes Lodge Okataina provides.

Their ceremony was put together perfectly for them by their Celebrant Fiona Hastie. Daniel and Julia chose to have their wedding ceremony at the lake edge spot with the strikingly blue Lake Okataina in the background. There were loads of laughs shared with their bridal party, made up of 8 of their good friends and family. Daniel and Julia’s children were very much a big part of their day as well.

I could tell their day had been very well thought out. The personal touches and items provided by their awesome wedding vendors were very much in keeping with their NZ nature and outdoor theme. From Julia’s gorgeous wedding earrings from Zoe and Morgan, wedding signs by Younique Collective, Julia’s wedding dress by Grace Loves Lace and Lets not forget the amazingly delicious wedding cake made of cheese! yum!

The venue provides plenty of photo locations so there was no need to travel off site. We used the bush glade area as well as the lake edge as the backdrop for the photos of the bride and groom with their family, guests and bridal party. During the wedding reception we popped out for a few sunset photos with just the bride and groom on the jetty also.

All in all it was a fun and chilled out day. It was such a pleasure to be their wedding photographer and share the wedding day with a such a down to earth fun loving group of people.

    Our South Island Honeymoon

    A little back story first…

Not long after we first met I went to visit Pat while he was building a log house at Mount Lyford. I was just there for a long weekend so we squeezed in as much as possible Hanmer Springs, Kaikoura and Pat also introduced me to Pete from Diamonds n Gold who lived on the mountain. Fast forward about 11 years we finally got hitched in November last year and Pete actually ended up designing and making my engagement ring and wedding band. Other than that and Christchurch I hadn’t seen a lot of the South Island and it’s been something I’ve wanted to do for a long time – explore my home country

We didn’t have a plan just that we wanted to make it to Queenstown and we had about 9 days return from Rotorua in the old Nissan Safari. Pat wanted to drive which I wasn’t too keen on but so glad we did as we struck amazing sunny weather for most of our trip and got to see so much. Some of the places we visited were Blenheim, Twizel, Mt Lyford, Hanmer Springs, Mt Cook Village, Lake Tekapo, Wanaka, Queenstown, Arrowtown and Lake Mavora so we covered some ground. The South Island is seriously gorgeous and it was a lot of fun exploring it with Pat. We got to catch up with Pete again and his partner Elona briefly via Skype. We were also super lucky to meet the owner of the stunning Ben Lomond Station and stay at one of their lodges

Anyway here are some of the images from our trip. I’ll definitely be framing up some of these for artwork
