Liam & Anna – Intimate Wedding at Spencer Lodge Lake Tarawera Rotorua

Liam and Anna had their intimate wedding at the lovely Spencer Lodge Lake Tarawera, Rotorua.

Spencer Lodge provided the perfect setting for this intimate wedding. The lodge is nestled in the hills overlooking Lake Tarawera. Liam and Anna’s wedding was simple and romantic with a very relaxed atmosphere.

Liam and Anna chose my Intimate Wedding Photography Package which was a perfect fit for their small wedding. I arrived just before Anna was about to walk down the aisle. Anna was so excited to may Liam that she raced down the aisle to him. I had to be quick on my feet to capture it. They then shared their beautifully written heartfelt vows to one another in front of their closest family and friends. They had just 15 guests in total making it a lovely and personal wedding. Their celebrant Rosie Waller put their ceremony together perfectly.

Following their ceremony we headed down to one of the lake reserves for some wedding photos of the new bride and groom. Liam & Anna got to enjoy some time to themselves walking along the lake edge and jetty being all cute and in love and stuff while I snapped away. Once we had captured some photos of them with Lake Tarawera as the back drop we went back to Spencer Lodge for a few final photos with the native bush surroundings. I then left them to enjoy their celebrations for the evening with their wedding guests. Their food was provided by Terrace Catering.

I loved the laid-back vibe of their wedding and Spencer Lodge has a very tranquil feel to it. Lake Tarawera is also one of my favourite spots in Rotorua. It truely was a pleasure to photograph Liam & Anna’s Wedding.

Joshua & Michelle – Lake Okareka Rotorua Proposal

    Joshua & Michelle

Joshua contacted me to photograph his surprise Lake Okareka Rotorua proposal to Michelle and I was so excited. Joshua explained his very well thought out and very romantic plan.

He planned to propose while they were on vacation at their friends holiday home in Lake Okareka, Rotorua. This is the first place they went on holiday together so it holds special meaning to them.

According to Joshua, Michelle loves surprises however she’s very good at guessing them. So he had to come up with a convincing story to tell her. Which was that I was there to take photos for advertising of them with their friends holiday home and surroundings.

I knew the location well myself and made sure we timed it perfectly for the best lighting.

I met them at the lake house and we headed out just before sunset. We made light conversation on the way while trying not to blow the surprise. We walked the board walk that runs around the lake for about 20 minutes until we reached the spot Joshua wanted to pop the question.

Once we reached the stunning lake edge area that Joshua had chosen we gave each other the nod. Then with the lake and sun above the hills in the background. Joshua got down on one knee and proposed with the gorgeous ring he had picked out. She said yes! from there my cover was blown and the smiles and laughter did not stop. We then captured a whole bunch of adorable engagement photos and they were also keen to get a couple of creative night shots once the sun had set. These two really were a joy to photograph.

I thoroughly enjoyed capturing this surprise Lake Okareka Rotorua proposal and the engagement photography session following that. It was a lot of fun to be part of such an exciting time for this lovely couple. I am so pleased to have captured these beautiful images for them to look back on.

Daniel & Julia – Lakes Lodge Okataina Wedding

Surrounded by family and friends Daniel and Julia said their vows on the shores of the stunning Lakes Lodge Lake Okataina Wedding Venue. It was a lovely warm sunny day with a little cloud cover which is literally picture perfect weather. Lakes Lodge Lake Okataina Weding Venue really was the perfect fit for their wedding.

Daniel and Julia are both from a farming background with a love for hunting, fishing, good food and wine. So naturally the the native bush and lake setting that Lakes Lodge Okataina provides appealed to them.

Fiona Hastie put together their ceremony beautifully. Daniel and Julia chose the lake edge spot for their ceremony with the strikingly blue Lake Okataina in the background. They shared loads of laughs and banter with their bridal party of 8. Their two children were very much a big part of their day as well.

It was clear that Daniel and Julia put a lot of thought and planning into there day. Their NZ nature theme was evident in the personal touches and items provided by their wedding vendors. Julia’s gorgeous wedding earrings were from Zoe and Morgan. Wedding signs by Younique Collective. Julia’s wedding dress is by Grace Loves Lace and Lets not forget the amazingly delicious wedding cake made of cheese! yum!

The venue provides plenty of photo locations so there was no need to travel off site. We used the bush glade area as well as the lake edge as the backdrop for the photos. I snuck out with the bride and groom during the wedding reception for a few quick photos at sunset also.

All in all it was a fun and chilled out day. It was great to share the wedding day with a such a down to earth fun loving group of people. It was such a pleasure to be their wedding photographer .

        Our South Island Honeymoon

        A little back story first…

Not long after we first met I went to visit Pat while he was building a log house at Mount Lyford. I was just there for a long weekend so we squeezed in as much as possible Hanmer Springs, Kaikoura and Pat also introduced me to Pete from Diamonds n Gold who lived on the mountain. Fast forward about 11 years we finally got hitched in November last year and Pete actually ended up designing and making my engagement ring and wedding band. Other than that and Christchurch I hadn’t seen a lot of the South Island and it’s been something I’ve wanted to do for a long time – explore my home country

We didn’t have a plan just that we wanted to make it to Queenstown and we had about 9 days return from Rotorua in the old Nissan Safari. Pat wanted to drive which I wasn’t too keen on but so glad we did as we struck amazing sunny weather for most of our trip and got to see so much. Some of the places we visited were Blenheim, Twizel, Mt Lyford, Hanmer Springs, Mt Cook Village, Lake Tekapo, Wanaka, Queenstown, Arrowtown and Lake Mavora so we covered some ground. The South Island is seriously gorgeous and it was a lot of fun exploring it with Pat. We got to catch up with Pete again and his partner Elona briefly via Skype. We were also super lucky to meet the owner of the stunning Ben Lomond Station and stay at one of their lodges

Anyway here are some of the images from our trip. I’ll definitely be framing up some of these for artwork
